Pumpkin to Talk About
As much as I love our hot Houston summers, I always look forward to welcoming the first days of Autumn. The weather is perfect for outdoor activities and Fall brings so many of my favorite traditions.
I've always enjoyed the Fall festivities and Halloween parties, but this year will be extra special because I can share these traditions with my 2 year old and 2 month old daughters. Last year, my family and I went to a Fall festival @Halter. This year, in addition to visiting the horses, I am looking forward to visiting Blessington Farms and Dewberry. I look forward to picking out pumpkins with my daughters and bringing them home to carve. I always get a few so that we can roast the seeds.
In addition to carving and roasting, pie/baking varieties of pumpkins are great for roasting and can be used in place of canned pumpkin in any of your favorite recipes. One of our family favorites is these pumpkin snickerdoodle cookies. Nothing smells better or puts you in a Fall spirit quite like pumpkin and warm spices. If you've had snickerdoodles and are a fan, just wait until you try these!
